The 2012 Santa Maria Elks Rodeo is less than a month away and the tickets have been flying.  There are many reasons that the tickets for this year’s rodeo have become the must have ticket of the year.  Santa Maria is the only PRCA rodeo between Santa Barbara and Salinas and this year with the addition of a full carnival and the doubling of the Coors Dance Hall the rodeo has something for kids of all ages.  The dance hall will be rockin’ Thursday night through Saturday night after the rodeo with a different band each night.

The voice that all rodeo fans will recognize calling the action for the ABBI/PBR Bull Riding and the PRCA rodeo is none other than Justin Mckee.  Mckee with his smooth Okie tone has done TV for hundreds of PBR telecasts, the PRCA pre and post shows and worked the Pendleton Round up as well as the Daddy of them all the Cheyenne Frontier Days. “We are really lucky that Justin has found time in his busy schedule to make it to our rodeo” stated Seth Doulton Executive Director of the Elks Rodeo. Justin Boasted “I have never been out to this neck of the woods and look forward to entertaining the folks of the Central Coast of California.”

Speaking of entertaining Frankie Smith the Punkintown Clown one of the funniest clowns going down the road is making the trip all the way from North Carolina to humor the crowd.

The Santa Maria Elks Rodeo will have it all this year, bulls, broncs, roping, Clydesdales, World Champions and the flashy girls of the barrel race.

The Gates open for the carnival and western marketplace where you can shop till you drop at 4pm Thursday May 31st, for the Dave Osburn Memorial ABBI/PBR Bull Riding. This is one of the only bull ridings in the western US where the bulls take home more money than the cowboys.  That’s right the bulls are part of the competition.  Gates also open at 4pm for the Friday June 1st and Saturday June 2nd PRCA Rodeo and at 12 noon Sunday June 3rd. Action starts at 7pm nightly and 2pm on Sunday.
